I
am going to describe about the topic today. This talks about Syrian
Refugees. There is one big question about it, why aren’t Gulf Countries
taking in Syrian refugees?
Most people from countries in
conflict Syrian tried to cross the Mediterranean to Europe by using
boat. They take the risks journey to escape from their country. There
are 11 people drowned every day in 2015 so far. They went to Europe
because the Gulf countries close the door for them. GCC (Gulf
Corporation Council) has six countries that is the wealthiest. They are
Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Arab Saudi and Uni Arab Emirat (UAE). They
did not want to take the Syrian refugees although they are the rich
countries.
No one of GCC (Gulf Corporation Council) want to
take Syrian refugees. They just gave the aid by fundraising money such
as Kuwait and UAE. Kuwait gave $800 million since 2012 and UAE has given
$364 million. But it is still lower than $1 billion from UK and $3
billion from US. GCC has two reasons why they did not take the Syrian
refugees into their country. The first is they have never signed the
International conventions on refugee rights and statelessness. The
second is their wealth just to concern among the small populations of
citizens.
The issue became most popular because many on social
media, in newspaper columns and in satirical cartoons, the citizens have
voice calls to the leaders to open the door. The solution for this
problem is the Gulf Countries should change the policy. The have could
begin to integrate with the international refugee system. They also
could immediately make work visas available to Syrian and the right to
bring their family.
In my conclusion, this talks about the
humanity sense. The GCC as the wealthiest countries should help the
Syrian refugees not only donor the money but also to take them into
their country.
